The Higher Education Resource Center merges educational, spiritual, and community-based resources in urban communities throughout Massachusetts. HERC bridges higher education access for youth achievement.

• To motivate, orient, prepare, and support undeserved youth to complete high school and to pursue and complete post-secondary education.
• To replicate and extend partnerships with churches, community organizations, and educational institutions to increase academic achievement and improve college access for undeserved youth.

• Urban youth, particularly African -American, Haitian-American, and Latino youth
• Grades 6 - 12
• First generation, low to moderate-income
• Most students served by HERC sites are not members of the host church, and in fact, more then half re not affiliated with any church at all.

• Utilizes indigenous networks in the community to provide services and reach people
• Demonstrates value for successful collaborations
• Inspires and empowers youth not to "flee" the city, but return to be the next generation of leaders in the city.
