The Women's Concerns Program, provides theory-based, increasingly intensive, linguistically and culturally appropriate prevention and education on breast and cervical cancer to Haitian women living in the Greater Boston area. The primary purpose of this program is to reduce health disparities, and promote early detection and increased service utilization. The program is designed to reach recent immigrants, including undocumented and uninsured women who have little or no contact with the mainstream healthcare system.
Currently GBNCC has two concurrent programs that we lead for our Women's Concern's Program which concentrate on Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer. Our programs are funded by Komen Foundation and Tufts Health Plan Foundation. We have trained more than 200 individuals. Our materials distributed at no charge to the participants, to perform Breast Self Exam (BSE). |
